Coach Heidi’s Fun Facts!

BpkMz55CYAAVgYl

Today we bring you Coach Heidi!

What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?

Being active with my husband and dogs or out on a run with my friends. Follow that with a good Oregon Ducks football game and it’s the  perfect day!

Who has been the biggest influence in your life?

My grandmother. She’s the most supportive person I’ve ever known and was always in my corner believing in me. She’s also where I get my stubborn streak and my independence, the genes run strong with this one.

If your house was on fire, what’s the first thing you’d grab to save

My fur kiddos, two dogs and a cat (after making sure my husband could get out on his own.)

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would be the first thing you would do with the money?

Other than quit my day job? Ha! Actually I’ve always wanted to coordinate a race in a really cool location and fly all my friends out to have a racecation.

What’s your biggest goal in life right now?

To keep working towards my masters and be the  best coach that I can be for my athletes. Also to create a bit more life balance and carving out a little bit of time for me as well.

Favorite movie of all time? Why so?

Depends on the mood I’m in, I’m a sucker for Finding Nemo, Frozen (Olaf, need I say more), Gilmore Girls (yes I know it’s a tv series), Chris Farley movies and anything with a dry sense of humor.

What is your favorite distance to race?

I enjoy Ironman training when I have the time, but I think that the half marathon and half ironman distance is perfect. Long enough to test your endurance but the training doesn’t actually take over your life.

Which race has meant the most to you?

Ironman Arizona. I finally put together a race where I executed to the best of my abilities and found my confidence. Any day you get to finish an Ironman is a good day, but a day where you felt great and people complimented how great you looked at mile 20 of the run? Priceless.

Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck?

100 duck sized horses, I feel like they would be easier to take on and less intimidating.

What combination of fixings makes your perfect burrito?

I don’t eat burritos, true story. In fact I’ve never eaten at Chipotle, either.

What are you passionate about?

Helping people realize that they can accomplish more than they thought they could with some good old fashioned hard work and dedication.

Star Wars or Star Trek?

Both. I grew up watching Star Trek because my grandfather did, but I have a love of Star Wars too!

Are you a cat person, a dog person, both or neither?

Both? Although my cat is more of a 1 kitty household so he’s totally in charge of the rest of us. We’ve got two dogs but I’m pretty convinced if I had more room I’d have a house full.

Coach Tina’s Fun Facts!

Today we met with Coach Tina to learn some more about her!

What’s your favorite place in the entire world?

Any where my family is because I can be happy anywhere. But if my family is with me, Keuka Lake, NY in the finger lakes.
What’s your biggest goal in life right now?

I have several and really I’m always striving and working towards multiple goals. To be the best wife to Brett, the best dog mom to Rogue and Colt, to eventually also be a mom to a non fur baby, to successfully grow my nutrition business in addition to my current coaching business and graduate with my masters degree. And of course to heal and recover from my hamstring surgery so that I can once again be an athlete.
What’s your favorite thing about your hometown?

The community was small enough that you got to know your neighbors, but large enough to have enough going on to keep things interesting. Small town main streets are my favorite and Victor has a really cute one. Plus we had access to history, culture, sports, museums, etc. but our community was more of a farming than city feel. I have to say it’s changing towards the opposite now though which makes me kind of sad.
What is your favorite distance to race?

Sprint Triathlon, any distance trail run and any distance snow shoe race.

Which race has meant the most to you?

My first Ironman at Lake Placid. Not because it was an Ironman, but because I had several things go wrong (bike mechanical, nutrition, the weather) and I didn’t quit. The urge is give up was there, but it never was an option. And while it was a pretty bad race time wise, it proved my mind and body are able to get me through anything.

If your house was on fire, what’s the first thing you’d grab to save?

My husband, our two dogs and maybe my wallet. Everything else is material and can be replaced, but in all honesty, replacing credit cards, license, etc is quite a challenge. And we might need access to our bank account.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would be the first thing you would do with the money?

I’d give a portion to charity, pay off all of our debt and my family’s debt, make sure our kids (future) have college paid for, buy a house (or two for another training destination) and travel around the world. Pretty much the typical things.

What is your favorite post workout snack when it’s too hard to make it to the fridge?

A PowerBar protein bar 🙂

What combination of fixings makes your perfect burrito?

Sweet potato, black beans, brown rice, avocado, salsa, and cheese.

Are you a cat person, a dog person, both or neither?

Dog definitely.

Coach Jennie’s Fun Facts!

Coach Jennie

We had an interview with Coach Jennie so we could find out some things you didn’t know about her!

What kinds of things really make you laugh?

Definitely sarcasm!  I’ve been told I have a sarcastic streak myself…

What’s your biggest goal in life right now?

After  a tough year athletically, I just want to get back to racing with passion, heart, and strength, wherever that lands me!
What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?

On my bike for a good, long time, followed by a run, and finally relaxing in the post long workout glow with some good food!

What’s your favorite thing about your hometown?

Do I have to pick one?  I really do love humble old Rochester!  I’d have to say the triathlon and running communities here are fantastic, in terms of both the people and the access to some great areas for swimming, biking, and running!
Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck?

Hmm.  I really like ducks, so I think I would go for the horse-sized duck.  I wouldn’t fight him, though-I would feed him, and make win him over with kindness instead.  We would be friends.

What is your favorite distance to race?

140.6.  I like my pain long and drawn out.

If your house was on fire, what’s the first thing you’d grab to save?

Do my dogs count as things?  Getting them out would definitely be my first reaction!

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would be the first thing you would do with the money?

Buy a house on one of the finger lakes for summer training and relaxation purposes!

What is your favorite post workout snack when it’s too hard to make it to the fridge?

I guess it requires some fridge opening (for berries), but Target carries this “just add water” pancake mix that’s actually made with legit real ingredients and fits the proper post workout carb:protein ratio, so when in doubt, that with some chocolate chips (of course) and berries is always an appealing option.  It was especially great this winter, when my husband was riding longer than I was, so I could tempt him with the smell of pancakes while he was grinding it out on the trainer.

How many times in the last month have you wanted to throw your bike?

I’m trying to make nice with my bike, so I’m going to say none in order to appease it.  My saddle and power meter, on the other hand…

What combination of fixings makes your perfect burrito?

My perfect burrito consists of a bunch of black and pinto beans, chicken, mild and medium salsa, corn salsa, fajita veggies, and cheese (I’m choosing from the Chipotle menu here, because there’s one 1.5 miles from my house now, making the regular post-training Chipotle dream a reality).

What is the best advice you’ve received in triathlon?

To be patient!  Not in a “sit around and wait for it to happen” way, but in a “do your work and don’t rush results” sort of way.  Whenever I’ve gone for things before I was ready, I’ve learned the hard way!

Are you a cat person, a dog person, both or neither?

Definitely a dog person!
